Climb points and pool dangers– do you have a reliable Frameless Glass Pool Fence?

Climb points are a common problem that we find with most pool fences on the Gold Coast. they are easy to fix, but many people don’t get the right type of certifier and so they can go unchecked – don’t put your family at risk, listen to our tips and recommendations so you can make sure that your fence is compliant.

At Absolut Custom Glass, one of the repeating challenges we see on the Gold Coast is that people have ‘climb points’ near where the pool fence has to go. Just why is this a concern? Well if you wish to get your Gold Coast Pool Fence certified  (by the way, you legally must have a pool fence) you have to ensure there are no climbing points. If you are worried about any of these things, you can find out more about it on the QLD government website or if you have any questions you can call us on 1300 937 902 or learn more at the Absolut Custom Glass website

So, what is a ‘climb point’? These are typically things like Tap fittings, garden beds, as well as pieces of the house. But at Absolut Custom Glass, we are used to dealing with this problem with Frameless Glass Pool Fences, and so we use what is known as ‘polycarbonate’ to get rid of the climbing hazard. This is done by manufacturing a special cover made from polycarbonate that fits over the tap. If it has an angle on it greater than 60 degrees then it cannot be used as a climbing point. This is crucial because we understand that removing external tap-fittings may not always be an option.

We use polycarbonate for this portion of our Pool Fences on the Gold Coast considering that it is a far more durable product and will not fade like the older style Perspex. So, you can rest assured that in years to come the polycarbonate mouldings that we suggest will still look like new and remain crystal clear.

And remember, these rules apply to everybody. So even if you don’t have kids, these ‘climb points’ still need to be fixed. It is a very strict rule, and one that we encourage you to take very seriously.

So if you are in the Gold Coast and are looking at a Frameless Glass Pool Fence, we recommend you to be aware of the areas around your pool– and make sure that when you pool fence is put in you consider those possible climb points. Absolut Custom Glass is a primary pool fence installer on the Gold Coast, and if you would like to talk to us more about your specific needs with climbing points or pool fence safety, call us on 1300 937 902 and look at a few of our success stories at the Absolut Custom Glass website
